Jingle All The Way: 4 Tips To Keep Your Holiday Spirit When Moving During December

Terra Fields

If relocating is on your list of things to do this holiday season, buckle up because it may be a bumpy ride. The Christmas season is often stressful enough, but it is possible to keep the holiday spirit alive with these four tips in tow:

1. Put on a Holiday Playlist.

Whether you are packing or traveling in the moving truck, the perfect holiday tune can really help lighten the mood when you are stressed. So, when tasked with moving during the month of December, make sure that you are listening to some of your favorite holiday songs. Switch on your favorite holiday radio station or music streaming app, channel or website and get to rocking around the Christmas tree!

2. Don't Forget to Send Out Your Holiday Cards.

The one thing that you never want to forget during the holiday season is to send out your holiday cards. Unfortunately, you are so ready to pull out your hair with the move that you don't want to have to worry about finding your address book, signing Christmas cards, making out the envelopes, etc. However, this is actually a task that will allow you to remain in the holiday spirit and inform everyone that you are moving. It's a good way to kill two birds with one stone – or, in the spirit of the holidays, get two reindeer with one snowball.

3. Take the Time to Pack Yourself a Holiday Box.

When moving with kids, and you can't wait until summer to move, December is a good time to move. This is because you don't have to worry about your young ones missing school. However, since everyone is packing, moving boxes and unpacking, the children may feel as if they're missing out on some memorable holiday moments. So, as a parent, you need to make sure they don't feel this way by ensuring there are still some holiday decorations put up around the main living area of the home. Just make sure to keep a box handy for these decorations to be placed in come moving day.

4. Make Sure to Opt for the Gift Wrap Option.

While you may be busy packing and moving, you can't forget to shop for gifts for your family and friends. You may not necessarily have the time to go out and get gifts, but you probably have time to slide behind a computer screen and do some online shopping. In fact, this may be easier for you. If and when possible, you should always choose the gift wrap option. This way, you don't have to worry about the gifts coming to your house and then having to wrap the items and send them to the recipients.

Good Record-keeping Helps New Business Owners Avoid Tax-time Headaches

I have been a business owner for years, and I want to share some tips for success with new entrepreneurs out there who are struggling. I have had my share of business ups and downs, but there was one lesson that it took me way too long to learn: Good financial record-keeping year-long keeps tax time from being so stressful. During my first year in business, I kept most business expense receipts, but when tax time arrived, I found out that I needed to save much more than just those receipts. Thanks to technology, I was able to recover most of the documentation I needed, but it was a huge headache. I quickly invested in good record-keeping software and it made tax time much less stressful during the following years.
