3 Expert Tips For Packing A Moving Truck

Terra Fields

You've organized all your belongings and packed them up neatly, the hard work is over, right? Not necessarily. In fact, it's just beginning. How you load your belongings on to the moving truck, such a one from Elite Truck Rental, will determine not only how stressful your move is, but also what type of condition they arrive in so it's imperative that you pack with this in mind.

Distribute Weight Properly

Always ensure the weight of your household goods are distributed correctly inside the truck. As a rule, it's best to load your heaviest items on to the truck first. Failure to do so is a recipe for disaster for a couple of different reasons.

This loading style keeps the bulk of the weight near the middle of the truck. Keeping the weight in the middle ensures your heavier items don't slam into the lighter items in the event of a sudden stop and it also makes maneuvering the truck easier, which is vital if you're inexperienced.

Don't Take The Easy Way

If you're only moving across town, it would seem like a smarter and more efficient idea to simply keep already assembled items assembled. However, the easy route isn't always the best. First, taking these types of items apart helps maximize space in the truck and it also helps minimize the potential for damage.

Consider a table, for instance. In terms of space, a table broken down into legs and a table top takes up far less space than it does when fully assembled. In terms of damage, it's easier for another item to fall on the table while assembled and crack it or cause some other form of damage. It's worth the extra effort to take items apart.

Remember To Group

If you're like most people, you plan to stage everything around your new home before you start unpacking. If so, you can bring a level of efficiency to this process by remembering to group the items you're placing on the truck together.

What this basically means is that you want to place items that will be stored in the same room or area in the same area on the truck. For example, all kitchen items in the back, left corner and all living room items in the front, right corner. This way, when you start unloading, you will already know where each box belongs.

Make sure you're following these tips to protect your belongings and ensure a less stressful move.

Good Record-keeping Helps New Business Owners Avoid Tax-time Headaches

I have been a business owner for years, and I want to share some tips for success with new entrepreneurs out there who are struggling. I have had my share of business ups and downs, but there was one lesson that it took me way too long to learn: Good financial record-keeping year-long keeps tax time from being so stressful. During my first year in business, I kept most business expense receipts, but when tax time arrived, I found out that I needed to save much more than just those receipts. Thanks to technology, I was able to recover most of the documentation I needed, but it was a huge headache. I quickly invested in good record-keeping software and it made tax time much less stressful during the following years.
